Johnson County Community Prevention Specialist
The Community Prevention Specialist (CPS) will motivate and mobilize her/his community to build and sustain vital alcohol, tobacco, other drugs, and suicide (ATODS) prevention initiatives utilizing evidence-based prevention strategies to achieve overall community wellness.
These efforts will be part of a capacity building and local decision-making process that will include conducting community needs assessments, researching evidence-based strategies and trainings, building community capacity, facilitating the development of coalition and stakeholder education and community strategic plans, implementation, continual reflection and consideration of mid-course adjustments, evaluation, etc., with intentional cultural competency and sustainability consideration.
The CPS will be housed in the Johnson County Public Health Department as part of Johnson County’s commitment to public health and safety. The position will report directly to the Johnson County Public Health Nurse manager.
