· Marriage licenses are issued between 8:00am – 11:30am and 1:30pm – 4:30pm.
· The couple, a witness and $30 (cash or check) must all be present to begin the process.
· We cannot guarantee that we will be able to complete your marriage license if you arrive at 4:30 pm. Please plan ahead. The license will take
approximately 30 minutes to complete.
To obtain a marriage license in Johnson County:
· The couple must appear in person.
· Picture ID - driver’s license, passport, military ID, school ID.
· A witness (18 or older) must also appear with the couple to attest there are no legal impediments to the parties being married.
· Both parties must be 18 years of age or older.
o Applicants who are 16 or 17 must first obtain a court order and written authorization from a father, mother, guardian or person having
care and control of the minor before a license can be issued.
o No person under the age of 16 can marry in the State of Wyoming.
The couple will both be asked to provide:
· Full legal name
· Social security number
· Current residential address
· Place of birth (State or Foreign Country/Province/State)
· Date of birth
· Race/ethnicity
· Education level
· Father’s first, middle, and last name, and the US state or foreign country of birth
· Mother’s first, middle, and maiden name, and the US state or foreign country of birth
· Date and State of Divorce, if applicable
· Date of widowhood, if applicable
Fees, Issuance & Expiration
· License fee is $30 payable by cash or check to Johnson County Clerk. No refunds.
· The license is valid in the state of Wyoming.
· The license expires one year from the date issued.
Ceremony, Officiants and Your Marriage License
· Marriage ceremonies are not performed in the Clerk’s Office.
· You must make your own arrangements with an Officiant.
· Documentation regarding the officiant’s credentials are not required, however, they must qualify by Wyoming Statute 20-1-106.
· Theremust be 2 witnesses at your ceremony (18 years or older).
· Both witnesses and the officiant are required to sign the license at the time of the ceremony.
· Marriage licenses must be returned to the County Clerk's Office within 10 days of the ceremony.
Obtaining a Copy of Your Marriage Certificate
· Johnson County provides two certified copies of a marriage license to the couple at the time the license is returned to the Clerk’s Office.
